Quotation Marks

This week my kiddos will work on quotation marks.  GR groups will focus on this skill as a follow up to our group mini lesson.  Thanks to Pinterest Teachers for pinning the Quotation Mark Poem.  My students will gluestick their own quotation mark poem into their word work journal.  They will also complete the three sentences as examples for their journal.

During their D5 rotation students will work with a high school peer tutor to identify where the quotation marks should go in each sentence.  Lamination was a must for these sentence strips.  Turn the sentence strips upside down and one at a time the students select a strip.  They must tell where the quotation marks go in the sentence.  My students will want to know how do you win.  Lately I've been telling them, "Knowing the answer is winning!"  or "You will have our congratulations!"  A little character education mixed in with skill building never hurts.
