Just a quick post to tell you about the Solid Read Aloud - Good Neighbor Day product that Rachel and I created. You can get your copy for 50% off for the next 48 hours!
To give you a little background...
When my 2nd grade teammates and I were working on the CCSS we found that poetry was not sufficiently covered in our curriculum. Like you, our team went into brainstorming mode to come up with a solution.
The solution came in the form of a read aloud. The read aloud is designed to be completed in a short 15 minute time period of the classroom day. The read aloud incorporates poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. Also, included is an art connection project, anchor chart sample, non-fiction story comprehension page, good neighbor/friend activity, and more.
This was a great solution to our CCSS problem. I would love for you to take a peek at this product. It will be a great back to school read aloud for your class!
Solid Read Aloud is a monthly activity. Here is a preview of what is to come:
October - Bats
October - Reptile Awareness
November - Sundae Day
You may be thinking the topics are a little strange. I guess you're right but I wanted to include topics that didn't focus on the typical monthly themes teachers may use. The topics correspond to National Observance Days. It would be easy to use the Solid Read Aloud during a different month that would relate to a specific topic you are teaching.
Until next time,
